Solitude is a silent storm that breaks down all our dead branches, yet it sends our living roots deeper into the living heart of the living earth.
— Kahlil Gibran

Each image represents a roll of 120mm film exposed in multiple overlapping frames during a long walk in nature as a study in visual rhythm and the relationship between static and moving images, as well as between nature and the self. The rolls were scanned and then digitally printed in panels on self-adhesive photomural fabric.

The project began in Washington DC in 2022 and continued during an artist residency in Montegiovi, Italy in 2023. Six images were installed as a show in the Colgan Hall Gallery at the Manassas campus of Northern Virginia Community College in spring 2025.
